Miniature Wedding Cake!

A beautiful miniature wedding cake is NOW for sale on my Etsy website! It is for any collector of dollhouse miniatures or someone who just LOVES the miniature world (like ME!). The roses were really fun to create and I found that I had more fun creating something so small! I will be creating more food in miniature in the future because I find it to be a calming thing to do. What is cool about this wedding cake is that the white clay already had glitter mixed into it and so that is why I decided to make a wedding cake.

It will be adorable in a cute little bakery or a wedding scene. OR in my case, I would want it sitting on the kitchen table inside my MANSION of a house where the woman are frantically preparing for Ms. Rose's Wedding Day!

Well I have been working really hard the last few days brainstorming and working on new items for my website. I am on a kick right now making little piggy's, inspired by one of my best friends Heather. =) She has been in love with pig's ever since I can remember & we have known each other for 20 years!

I do believe that this is my favorite creation so far! Two little piggy's enjoying a summer mud bath with a good slice of watermelon. And as I should have realized my friend Heather wants this!!! lol. I may have to let her have it. =) But I am definitely going to make more of these little guys, along with other animals as well since it seems as though it is a favorite of many.

I went & did it.... I gave in and purchased some business cards. Except for the fact that the company I bought them through put my website on it TWICE. So, here is the first go-round. I have to update the design (with my own) and fix this mistake. But if it weren't for those two things I would be COMPLETELY happy. Oh well...things happen, right?? As long as I get this fixed by November I will be a happy lil' camper.

Other than that, what do YOU think?!? I think there is room for improvement. =)

The days are becoming very few until I can start claying again and I am uber excited!! I already have a couple orders from people. I just need to get organized and buckle down! Well....school starts next week and I am afraid that I might not be able to buckle down... =( We will see what this 'Energizer Bunny' can do, shall we?!? I am sure I will keep you all updated/posted on these things. Anyways.... so, is it Spring yet?!? I think I will put on my list... caterpillars, bunnies, ladybugs, dogs, flowers, babies (because we love them!), monkeys, butterflies, etc.

This is a follow-up to my last blog post:

Thank you to everyone who donated money to the charity I was raising money for! Go Team Hole in the Wall! I am feeling very accomplished after finishing my FIRST half marathon in Detroit on Sunday, October 17th. I finished in 2:29, beating my goal time by one minute! I felt like I could have kept on running! I wore my Team Hole in the Wall shirt with pride that day!

Well Halloween just passed and I hope everyone had a fun and safe one!! I have been very busy lately that I have not been able to start my special orders!! I better get on that! Team Hole in the Wall

Good morning everyone! I know this is completely off the subject of what my blog and business is about but I just wanted to let you all know what I have been up to lately outside of clay wishes.

As some of you may know I am running the Detroit Free Press half marathon on October 17th. As part of my training/run I wanted to do something other than running the race. I wanted some sort of purpose and meaning for doing so. So I found this Team Challenge - Fundraising website that raises money for children with illnesses and disabilities to go to a camp. You can check out the link below but I thought this was a great way to feel like I am doing something other than just running a race for me. I am not a person who likes to ask for money but this fundraiser means a lot to me and I know it would mean a lot to a child out there to go to this camp. All it takes is a little from each person which can go a long way; $5, $10, etc. My goal is to reach $500 before my race next month, but if I can raise more than MORE POWER TO ALL OF YOU! : )

An August Giveaway - Cotton Candy Anyone??

Cotton candy is one of my children hood pastimes. I LOVE the stuff! So that is how this bear came about. :) I love her and was pleased to give her away in my random drawing for the month of August. After several people entered the drawing I randomly picked Sheri Toro as the winner of this bear.

I had a lot of fun making her as well as the excitement of the drawing to see who would be the lucky winner. I would like to have a random drawing like this every month, however I think I will extend the chance to enter by 2/3 weeks. That will give ample time for my fans to enter the drawing. I am also only 10 away from having 100 fans!!!! Of course, the 100th fan will receive a special something from Clay Wishes as well.

It is also that time of year again that I just LOVE! FALL :) I am starting to receive more special orders this year, which I love because it gives me so much creativity and my fans let me express that. It makes me feel great when I can create something special for someone in which they can cherish forever (and I do not mean to sound like a Hallmark card) but it is TRUE! I have also come to discover that many people are not fond of special orders because they feel it puts pressure on them which I do understand but I guess you can call me "strange" for loving the idea of special orders. However, I have not experienced a customer who was not happy with their special order YET and I am sure at some point that MAY happen. I just hope I can make MOST, if not ALL, of my customers happy! I love you all & thank you for becoming my fan and/or followers!!!!

Yum! A 3-Tier Miniature Cake!

Happy August 1st everyone!!! I have been a bit under "the weather" lately but I am trying to pick myself up and get back on track.

Today did get off to a slow start but I was able to workout, grocery shop, run miscellaneous errands and fit in a few chapters of my book, "Eat, Pray, Love" and make this cute three tier heart cake. This was one of three miniature cakes I have attempted to make but the first with roses. I had fun making this! The biggest task was trying to figure out how to make the roses as realistic as possible. I think I came close. ;)

The cake was especially made to fit into a 1/12th size doll house. The entire cake is made from polymer clay and made especially by me. ;) I think I will be making more of these cakes and other miniature items as well. I LOVE these!!

Good morning to everyone! I hope your St. Patty's Day & luck of the Irish served you well! I know the luck of the Irish was on my side on Wednesday. I just received news on Wednesday that I the firm I recently interviewed for wanted to offer me a position. YAY ME!!! So I will be transitioning into this new position on April 1st and I have a feeling it is going to be a wonderful learning experience. My current place of employment is closing and forming a new firm and my position was cut. I was in shock but am very happy it has all worked out for everyone. Change is good, right???? I may not like it sometimes but this time it just feels right. I am still going to school full-time in the Spring, which ironically starts on April 5th. I will have a full schedule that's for sure!!! We will see how the next year pans out and I hope I can learn as much as possible and learn most of it in a year. By the way my position at this new firm is a Litigation Secretary. Yup! This is the business aspect of my life, lol. The 9-5er! I think this will put "Clay Wishes" on hold for a few months because of the change but I need some creative outlet during this time and I will probably be sticking with my miniatures during this time. Well maybe I should start "studying" for this new position and sign off. I hope everyone enjoys the weekend!!!

P.S: So does anyone else have brackets??? It was very upsetting yesterday, don't ya think?

So I felt inspired this weekend and boy did I make the clay! I actually wish that I did not have to work today so I could stay home and create more. :D

Who loves pictures? I know I do! That is why I thought it would be a very cute idea to make picture holders. Here is one of them that I made this weekend.

She is now on my Etsy site if you want to take a look at them and more. Time is running out if you are shopping fort Valentine's Day & are stumped on a gift for you daughter, mother or wife! So hurry up! :D Or these just make lovely gifts for the picture lover like myself.

On a side note, we are due to get a snow storm here in Michigan from Tuesday night into Wednesday so let's hope for a snow day!! Then I can stay in my pj's all day and play with my clay. Yay!! I know anyone that is a clay lover knows exactly how I feel.

Good afternoon everyone!! I hope everyone's Super Bowl Sunday is going well. I just finished making a custom order for my dear friend Bunny. She asked me to make her an angel bear that represented her daughter Catherine's baptism on July 25, 2008. This is what I came up with.

I really enjoyed making this for her and the proceeds for this are going to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life in support of her husband Michael. We wish you guys the best & your in our prayers!!!

So today I was browsing around and came upon several fan pages on facebook. Fan pages that are directed towards polymer clay. The things people create are amazing!! There are some really talented artists out there. :D After seeing many of these pages, I feel so inspired again! Of course, I have not stopped creating my little animals, however we all know that from time to time our inspiration goes away. I know what helps me get that inspiration back is by looking at other talented artists out there. Someone who has inspired me to start creating a lot more is Flakey 'n Friends. Lil' Miss Christmas Piggy

Good morning world! Here is Lil' Miss Christmas Piggy baking gingerbread cookies for Christmas! I actually made this for an old friend of mine for Christmas because she loves piggy's so much! It seemed to be a big hit so I have decided that this one will be included in my inventory on my upcoming website to be published in the Spring. I always have fun making my figurines but sometimes I can be such a perfectionist. This piggy took me a total of three tries because I HAD to have it perfect!!! That can be my downfall sometimes.

As for current projects, I am currently working on bottled Santa's and pumpkins for next season! Adorable! I will have pictures soon my friends! Best wishes & I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season & have a Happy New Year!

Almost Vacation Time! More Crafting & Playing....

Well it is snowy and nasty outside here in Michigan today. It is officially hibernation weather!!! Officially time to stay in doors and work on my site and figurines, don't ya think!? :D I have a four day weekend coming up and you can bet that is what I have planned for it! I am very excited and happy that I FINALLY get to put time into my site because honestly with school, work, dance and friends I have not had time. So this makes me very happy as you can see. :) I have SO many crazy ideas in store for everyone and I really cannot wait until the site is up and working. So stay tuned for that!!! :)

As for other things I am working on this weekend. I have a doll house that I originally hoped to accomplish building, decorating, etc. by this Christmas but of course life got in the way. I got this doll house as a gift from my parents for my 24th and was SO happy with it! I do not have an updated photo of it but I do have something for you...

This is of the inside before any paint, carpet or wallpaper went into it. I will get pictures on this soon as well. I am still not sure what I have planned for this house, but I am hoping that it just hits me as I continue to "create." Below you will see another doll house that I own. This house is just crazy! As you can see it is massive by the cat in one of the pictures. This is Picasso. He just LOVED sleeping inside the rooms and I thought it was crazy when he jumped on the front porch! This is a Lady Kathleen and I got a great deal on it!! Right now it is selling for approximately $700.00 but I was able to snag it for only $150.00!!! I just could not pass this up. This house is actually in storage right now because of its size. I do not have the room to put it but when the day comes you bet I will REALLY enjoy restoring it!!!

Well, I guess I should get back to studying for my math final that I have tonight...wish me luck! Enjoy the winter weather if you have it!!! You might as well. :D

Well it has been a very busy week with school, work, making my Christmas gifts and building my website. It is a lot of hard work and involves a lot of dedication but I guess I am just very ambitious!!! New Creation!

Hey everyone! I am back in the action with my claying! I made a baby elephant for a friend's baby shower coming up soon. They are having a baby girl and her name is going to be Jocelyn. I personalized the glass with the baby's name on it. The theme of the baby's room is elephants so I thought it would be really nice if Alley and Jason (my friends 'the parents') have something nice to add to the room. :D

You will not see the writing in these two photos because I took the pictures prematurely. The name is placed in front of the elephant in white cursive writing. I plan on making more gifts like this!!!! :D

Kentucky Trip!!!

Hey everyone!!! It has been awhile since I have posted or updated you on things going on so I thought I would show you a few things from my Kentucky trip this past weekend! First off, I went to Kentucky with my best friend Suzie to visit her family. Along the way we ran into some stray kittens next door to her Aunt & Uncle's house. I am a big fan of this picture with the one stray cat that fell in love with us!!

I also have a video of this kitten and its CRAZY meow but will post it for you to view later. We also stopped by the Kentucky Speedway on the way back to Michigan as well. Such a massive track!!! I will be going back next year for the Kentucky Derby! :)

As for my claying adventures!!! I have had a dry spell the last few months because of how busy I have been and going back to school full-time to become a teacher, but I am starting back up with them!! Of course, I always get back into claying when Christmas season is pretty much over...I guess I have to plan for next year, huh??

Okay so when I was talking to my mom one day she mentioned a website http://www.tastespotting.com/, so I go and check the website out. It is full of colorful and delightful pictures of different blogs and pages from people all over the world. They share their recipes with everyone. Well, I have to tell you that I want sweets so bad!!! You see I started working out with a personal trainer last Tuesday, which is great, but I am on a 1200 calorie diet and am restricted to certain meal plans and what not. As long as I stay within my calories, I guess I am alright. So, if I want a cupcake should I have one??? I do!!!! I want one so bad but my inner self is telling me now. I never was one for sweets too much either. Isn't it strange when you know you can't have something, you want it even more!?!? Strange...lol. Well, I wanted to share some of the DELICIOUS treats that I found on there and I thought you guys might enjoy as well. Hey, I can look can't I? Plus, the pictures are very pretty.

Oh and by the way my favorite is the Smore's at the bottom of the page. VERY INGENIOUS!!! YUM!!!!!!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is evjoying the summer. I cannot complain too much here. I am trying to stay on track and make as many things as possible before the craft show this fall but it is hard sometimes. I am currently in the mood to create my first thread bear. I have a few books right now on it and want to give that a try this weekend. Hopefully I will also post my other creations for you as well. I created a face out of polymer clay and it turned out very well if I do say so myself! I am in the process of creating his body and he is looking a little more realistic. It is my first human face and I am very proud of it. Anyways, I hope to have some items posted for you this weekend! Keep a look out!

My First 5K Race

Well I trained for about 6 weeks to run my first race. It was the Refuge River Run and proceeds went to keep the river clean in Elizabeth Park in Trenton, Michigan. It was 3.1 miles long and my time was 31:47 minutes. I was VERY happy because you see in training I was running it in 37 minutes or more but the furthest I went was approixmately 2 miles. So, yes I was proud of myself for shaving off some of my personal time.

It was also the night of the Stanley Cup Finals game 7 for the Red Wings and I knew I was going to miss the game because of this race. I will tell you a little secret...I am a Red Wings fan but I was happier that I ran the race and in good time as well. But then again I did catch the tail end of the 3rd period just in time to watch them loose. :( Hey, at least they gave us a good season right? Well anyways, I am thinking about training for a 1/2 marathon this fall. I am very excited and ready for it.

Fall Craft Show 2009

Well I am signing up for my very first craft show this fall. I am very anxious and excited! I am been working on my increasing my inventory for the show. I have a lot of Christmas ornaments and a variety of items in store. My cousin is also doing the show as well and she is in the same medium as me. I guess you could say that talent runs in my family.

My mother was telling me yesterday that craft shows are fun only if you do not expect to sell anything; that you go into the show with the intensions of just having a good time and meeting new people. I believe this is true because when I went to my mother's craft show sometime ago, she sold only one thing and this discouraged her so much that I think that was the time she stopped creating her dolls. It was just a bad location I think but of course it discouraged her because she went in with the attitude of selling a lot. That was quiet awhile ago and she is now making quilts and purses for people in her life, so I am very happy she has not lost that creative side of her because of it.

I hope to go into the craft show having fun, and possible coming out with some cash... ;)

I am very happy with him and of course it is hard to give them up for adoption but the time will near where I will have to part with this little one. Miniature Galour!!!!!!

Well, I am assuming that if you are reading this you are a miniature enthusiast. Whether you make, collect, design, or just ponder the world of miniatures you know that are interested in the hobby. I have had my eye on miniatures since I was 16 years old, along with polymer clay. I finally received my first DH at the age of 24 from my parents. I really could have bought one for myself but I did loose track for some time. Well I am happy to say that I am back into the art and building my first dollhouse, the Buttercup. I am still unsure as to what the theme of the house is going to be because, of course, I have so many ideas!!! Some of my ideas include: a school house, Scandinavian Christmas, a cat room and possibly a store front to name a few. I would also LOVE to design single rooms of my favorite stories when I was a child. However, this house has not given me any ideas yet but I am throwing the idea of the Scandinavian Christmas around in my head for the time being. We will see what happens with the house as I progress. As of now I have the house built, wallpaper is up and the floor is about to go in. Oh yea! I also have electrified the house as well. Painting of the exterior is next in the process.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let everyone know that I have posted some new items on my etsy website for the Halloween season, so check them out!!!

I am currently working on bears/cats with quilts. They are so adorable! I will post a few pictures of them really soon for you all to see. So far I believe I have been accumulating a very nice inventory of things to sell at the craft show on November 1. However, I am unsure what to do with the ornaments that I have accumulating in my boxes. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can disply them at the craft show??

My First Sale!

Some of you may know how it feels when you make your first sale as an entreprenuer, right!? Or maybe not. If you do not, I can tell you that it is the most exciting feeling you get when someone else likes your creations enough to buy them!

I sold my first polymer clay bear on etsy yesterday. I guess I should tell you all that I make sculptures out of polymer clay. I have been doing so for 10 years on and off now. This is the first time I have made an effort to put my items up for sale anywhere. And this fall I am doing a craft show for the first time. That I know will be exciting! I will let you all know how that goes. The craft show is scheduled for November 1st.
